Usually potential clients will contact me by telephone and I make an appointment to see them in their own home - normally in the evening when partners can be present, as it is important that you both meet me.
I charge £50 for a consultation (which is deducted from your final fee, should you choose to book with me), this is to cover my time and petrol expenses.
Most people have a list of questions they wish to ask, others are keen for me to talk about my philosophy of care and why I have chosen to work in this way.
It is an opportunity for you to see if you like me, and to see if I am the right midwife for you.
Consultations normally take between 1-2 hours depending on how many questions you have! After the consultation, I tend to ask couples to let me know their decision within a week, due to the numbers of enquiries I am currently receiving.
