Welcome to my website. My name is Eleanor May-Johnson and I am an independent midwife based in Southampton, Hampshire - I cover a wide area, including all of Hampshire and parts of Dorset, Wiltshire and East Sussex (please look at the Geographical Areas Covered). I provide a personalised, independent midwifery service to women and their partners who are planning or considering a homebirth. I also provide care to women who are planning a hospital birth -  although my role is that of advocate and supporter in these circumstances

I believe that the birth of a baby is the single most precious moment in any parents' life and am passionate about providing individualized, personal care to women and their families. I strongly believe that most women can give birth to their babies with minimum intervention, provided they feel safe, secure and well supported. I feel that midwifery is a calling for me and feel very privileged to be able to spend this special and important time with the families I work with
